Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth, and they can change the color, shape, and proportions of a smile in a way few other treatments can. At 805 Dentistry, we design and place porcelain veneers for patients throughout the region, including many families and professionals who make the drive from Moorpark to our Thousand Oaks office. Because we provide general, family, and cosmetic care under one roof, we can handle your exam, any foundational treatment, and your veneers without sending you elsewhere.

Veneers cover the visible front of a tooth, so they work best for concerns that show when you smile and talk. Patients often ask us about veneers when they have teeth that are chipped, worn, uneven in length, or slightly gapped. We also see patients whose teeth have discoloration that whitening has not improved. Others feel their teeth look too small or mismatched. Because each veneer is shaped individually, we can address several of these concerns across a group of teeth at once.

Porcelain is the material we offer for veneers, and it is a popular choice for front teeth because it can be shaded and shaped to look natural alongside your surrounding teeth. When you visit us from Moorpark, we will look at your whole smile to decide which teeth would benefit and how they can work together as a balanced, cohesive result.

A good candidate for veneers has healthy teeth and gums and wants a cosmetic change to the front of the smile. Before we recommend veneers, Dr. Dar Radfar performs a thorough dental exam to check for decay, gum disease, or bite problems. If we find something that needs attention first, such as a cavity or gum inflammation, we can treat it here so your veneers are placed on a stable foundation.

Veneers are not the right fit for everyone, and we will tell you honestly if another option suits your goals better. Depending on what we find, that might be composite bonding for a small chip, in-office or take-home teeth whitening for discoloration, clear aligners or Invisalign for crowding, or gum contouring for an uneven gumline. Some patients combine several of these as part of a larger smile makeover.

What happens during the veneer process?

The veneer process usually takes a few visits: a consultation and planning appointment, a preparation visit, and a final bonding visit. During planning, we talk through what you would like to change and use Digital Smile Design to help map out the shape and proportions of your new smile before any work begins. This gives you a clear picture of the goal and a chance to share your preferences.

At the preparation visit, we gently remove a thin layer of enamel from the front of each tooth so the veneers sit naturally rather than looking bulky. Because enamel does not grow back, this step is permanent, and we make sure you are comfortable with that before moving forward. We then capture the details of your teeth so your porcelain veneers can be crafted to fit. Our on-site dental lab supports this kind of custom restorative work. At your final visit, we check the fit and color, make any adjustments, and bond each veneer securely in place. Here is what you can generally expect along the way:

  • A full exam and a conversation about your cosmetic goals
  • A smile design that shows the planned shape and shade
  • Careful preparation of the teeth that will receive veneers
  • Bonding, fine-tuning, and a review of your bite

If dental visits make you anxious, let us know. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation, and we will talk through which option makes sense for you.

How do I take care of porcelain veneers?

You care for porcelain veneers much like your natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss daily, and keep up with regular cleanings and exams. Healthy gums frame your veneers and help them look their best, so routine preventive visits matter. Many of our Moorpark patients schedule their cleanings with us so we can keep an eye on their veneers and the rest of their smile at the same time.

Porcelain is durable, but it is not indestructible. Avoid biting fingernails, chewing on pens or ice, or using your teeth to open packages. If you grind or clench at night, we may recommend a night guard to protect your teeth and veneers. If you play contact sports, ask us about a sports mouth guard. And if a veneer ever chips or feels loose, call us. We offer emergency dental appointments for situations that cannot wait.

How can I pay for veneers?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans, welcome self-pay patients, and offer financing to help make treatment more manageable. Because veneers are usually considered cosmetic, insurance coverage varies from plan to plan. Our team can help you understand what your benefits may apply to, especially if foundational care such as fillings or gum treatment is part of your plan.

After your consultation, we will give you a clear treatment plan so you know what to expect before you commit. If you live in Moorpark and have been thinking about porcelain veneers, reach out to our office to schedule a visit with Dr. Radfar and our team.
