A cracked molar that catches on everything you chew, a filling that has worn down, or a gap where a tooth used to be can make everyday life harder than it should be. Restorative dentistry is how we repair or replace damaged and missing teeth so you can eat, speak, and smile comfortably again. At 805 Dentistry in Thousand Oaks, we handle restorative care for children and adults, and much of it happens under one roof.
Restorative dentistry covers any treatment that brings a tooth back to healthy function. That can mean filling a cavity, covering a weakened tooth with a crown, saving an infected tooth with root canal therapy, or replacing a lost tooth with a bridge, denture, or dental implant. The goal is to protect what you have and rebuild what has been lost.
It helps a wide range of people. A child with a first cavity, a parent with an old filling that has started to break down, and a grandparent missing several teeth all fall under restorative care. Because we see patients of all ages, families from Simi Valley, Moorpark, Camarillo, Newbury Park, and nearby communities can often handle these needs in one familiar office. Common restorations we provide include:
- Fillings, inlays, and onlays for decay and moderate damage
- Crowns for cracked, weakened, or heavily filled teeth
- Root canal therapy for front teeth, premolars, and molars
- Bridges, partial dentures, and complete dentures to replace missing teeth
- Dental implants, implant-supported bridges, and implant-supported or snap-in dentures
- Full mouth rehabilitation when many teeth need attention
Your restorative care starts with a dental exam and imaging so we can see what is happening below the surface. Our practice offers 2D and 3D dental imaging, including CBCT scans, and has a board-certified oral and maxillofacial radiologist on staff. Detailed images help us find decay early, check the bone around a tooth, and plan treatments like implants accurately.
From there, we explain your options in plain terms. A small cavity may only need a filling, while a tooth with a deep crack might need a crown or root canal first. If you are replacing teeth, we talk through how bridges, dentures, and implants differ so you can choose what fits your needs and budget.
Will I need to see a different office for complex treatment?
In many cases, no. Our team includes a board-certified endodontist, a board-certified periodontist, and a board-certified dental anesthesiologist, so complex steps can often stay in our office.
That matters when a restoration involves more than one stage. A cracked tooth may need a root canal from our endodontist before receiving a crown. An implant may require bone grafting or a sinus lift, and our periodontist places implants and provides ongoing implant maintenance. If a tooth needs more exposed structure to hold a crown, crown lengthening can be done here as well. We also have an on-site dental lab, which helps us coordinate restorations within our own practice.
What if I feel anxious about dental work?
We offer several sedation options to help you feel at ease. Choices include nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation, and general anesthesia, provided by our board-certified dental anesthesiologist.
Dental anxiety keeps many people from getting care they need, and small problems tend to become bigger ones over time. If you have been putting off treatment, let us know how you feel at your first visit. We will talk through which level of sedation may suit the work you need and how it fits into your appointment.
How do I care for my restorations afterward?
Most restorations need the same daily habits as natural teeth: thorough brushing, daily flossing, and regular checkups and cleanings. We will give you specific instructions for your treatment, such as how to clean around a bridge, care for dentures, or keep the gums around an implant healthy.
Regular visits let us check that fillings, crowns, and other work are holding up and catch wear before it causes trouble. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend a night guard to help protect your restorations. Patients with gum disease may benefit from periodontal maintenance to keep the foundation around their teeth healthy. And if something breaks or hurts unexpectedly, we offer emergency dental appointments.
How can I pay for restorative dentistry?
We accept all major PPO insurance plans, welcome self-pay patients, and offer financing. Before treatment begins, we review your plan with you so you understand your options.
Restorative needs vary widely, from a single filling to a full mouth reconstruction, so costs depend on your situation. Financing can make it easier to move forward with care now instead of waiting while a problem worsens.
If a tooth is bothering you or you are ready to replace one that is missing, we would be glad to help. Contact 805 Dentistry to schedule your visit with Dr. Dar Radfar and our team, and let's start rebuilding a healthy, comfortable smile together.
