Losing teeth changes more than your smile. It affects how you chew, how clearly you speak, and how confident you feel in everyday conversation. Dentures remain one of the most practical and time-tested ways to replace missing teeth. At 805 Dentistry, we offer both complete dentures and partial dentures, so we can match the type of replacement to what your mouth actually needs rather than fitting you into a one-size-fits-all solution.

A complete denture replaces every tooth in the upper arch, the lower arch, or both. It rests on the gums and the underlying ridge of bone. Complete dentures are often the right fit for patients who have already lost all their teeth in an arch, or whose remaining teeth are too compromised to keep. When teeth need to come out first, we can handle simple and surgical extractions here. That means your care stays under one roof instead of being split across several offices.

A partial denture fills gaps when some healthy natural teeth remain. It attaches to those teeth and fills in the spaces between them. It can help prevent neighboring teeth from drifting into open spaces, and it restores chewing surfaces you may have been avoiding. Patients often come to us for a partial after losing a few back teeth over the years, or after a single front tooth is lost and leaves a visible gap. The key difference is simple: a complete denture rebuilds an entire arch, while a partial works alongside the teeth you still have.

Patients reach us from many different starting points, and each one shapes the conversation we have at your first visit. Common situations include:

  • Several teeth lost gradually to decay or gum disease
  • Teeth that are failing and may need to be extracted before replacement
  • An older denture that no longer feels secure or comfortable
  • A wish to compare removable dentures with implant-based options

That last point matters. For patients who want more stability, we also offer implant-supported dentures and snap-in dentures, which attach to dental implants. Our office includes a board-certified periodontist who places implants, so we can talk through traditional and implant-supported choices side by side.

Am I a good candidate for dentures?

Most people missing some or all of their teeth can be considered for dentures, but a thorough exam comes first. We look at the health of your gums, the condition of any remaining teeth, and the shape of the supporting bone. If gum disease is present, we may recommend treating it before a partial denture is made, because healthy supporting teeth give a partial the best foundation.

We also listen to your priorities. Some patients want the most straightforward, budget-friendly replacement. Others put long-term stability first and want to explore implants. Our on-site dental lab and our 2D and 3D imaging capabilities help us plan carefully. For patients who feel nervous about extractions or dental work in general, we offer oral sedation, IV sedation, nitrous oxide, and general anesthesia through our board-certified dental anesthesiologist.

How do I care for my dentures, and what results can I expect?

Daily cleaning and regular checkups are the foundation of good denture care. Brush your dentures to remove food and plaque, handle them gently over a soft surface, and keep them moist when they are out of your mouth. If you wear a partial, caring for your natural teeth matters just as much. Those teeth help anchor the appliance, so brushing, flossing, and routine cleanings stay essential.

Adjusting to new dentures takes some patience. Speaking and eating may feel unfamiliar at first, and that is normal. Over time, the shape of your gums and jaw can change, which can affect how dentures fit. Regular visits let us check the fit and make adjustments as needed. Whatever you are experiencing, we would rather hear about any sore spots or looseness early than have you put up with discomfort.

How can I pay for dentures?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans and are glad to work with self-pay patients. Coverage for dentures varies from plan to plan, so our team can help you understand what your benefits may include before treatment begins.

Financing is also available for patients who prefer to spread the cost over time. We will walk you through your options openly, so you can make a decision that fits both your health and your budget.

Dr. Dar Radfar and our team care for families throughout Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Camarillo, Moorpark, and nearby communities.
