Eating a salad, laughing at dinner, or speaking up in a meeting shouldn't involve worrying about your teeth. For people missing most or all of their teeth in an upper or lower jaw, or living with teeth that are failing one after another, these ordinary moments can become sources of stress. Full arch dental implants replace an entire row of teeth with a fixed set anchored to implants in the jawbone. At our Thousand Oaks office, we help patients from across the Conejo Valley and surrounding communities decide whether this approach fits their mouth, their health, and their goals.
A full arch restoration replaces every tooth in one jaw using a small number of dental implants as anchors, rather than one implant per tooth. You may hear these called All-on-4, All-on-6, or All-on-X dental implants. The number refers to how many implants support the arch, and we choose that number based on your bone, bite, and the restoration being planned. The new teeth attach to the implants and are not removed at night like a traditional denture.
This treatment helps a wide range of people. Some patients have worn complete dentures for years and are tired of adhesives or of a lower denture that shifts when they chew. Others still have their natural teeth, but those teeth are broken down, loose from gum disease, or have needed repeated repairs. Some are dealing with a mix of missing, damaged, and failing teeth and want one comprehensive plan instead of fixing problems one at a time. Full arch implants are often part of a broader full mouth rehabilitation, and we can treat one jaw or both.
Being a good candidate depends mainly on the health and amount of your jawbone, the condition of your gums, and your overall health. Your evaluation begins with a thorough exam and imaging. Because our team includes a board-certified oral and maxillofacial radiologist and we provide CBCT imaging, we can view your jaw in three dimensions. That shows us bone volume, nerve positions, and sinus anatomy before we plan implant placement.
Low bone volume doesn't automatically rule you out. Bone loss is common after teeth have been missing for a while, and we offer bone grafting and sinus lift surgery when extra support is needed. If remaining teeth must come out first, we perform both simple and surgical extractions in our office. Gum health matters as well, and our board-certified periodontist places dental implants and treats gum disease, so those issues can be addressed as part of the same plan. Before your consultation, it helps to think about:
- Any medical conditions you have and medications you take
- How long teeth have been missing, or how long you've worn dentures
- What bothers you most now, such as chewing, appearance, comfort, or fit
- Whether dental anxiety has kept you from treatment in the past
Will I be comfortable during treatment?
Yes, comfort is a central part of how we plan full arch care. Our team includes a board-certified dental anesthesiologist, and we offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation, and general anesthesia. Together we can choose the option that suits the procedure and your comfort level.
Many patients who need full arch treatment have put off dental care because of anxiety, and that is understandable. We want you to know your options before treatment day. Having our own on-site dental lab also lets us coordinate closely on your restoration as it is designed and fitted.
How do I care for full arch implants, and what results can I expect?
You care for full arch implants with daily cleaning at home and regular professional visits, much as you would with natural teeth. Food and plaque can collect around the implants and under the arch, so we'll show you how to clean those areas thoroughly each day.
Ongoing professional care is just as important. We provide implant maintenance and periodontal maintenance to keep the gums and tissues around your implants healthy over time. If you grind or clench your teeth, a night guard may help protect your restoration. Results depend on your individual health and how closely you follow your care routine, and we'll talk through realistic expectations for your situation during planning.
How can I pay for full arch dental implants?
We work with you on payment in several ways. We accept all major PPO insurance plans, we welcome self-pay patients, and we offer financing.
Coverage for implant treatment varies widely between plans, so we'll review your benefits and give you a clear picture of your costs before treatment begins. Because a full arch restoration is a significant investment, financing can help spread payments over time in a way that fits your budget.
