If you are living with several worn, broken, missing, or painful teeth, you may feel like every dental problem is tangled up with the next one. Fixing a single tooth can seem pointless when the one beside it is also failing. Full mouth reconstruction gives us a way to step back and plan your care as a whole. Our team at 805 Dentistry in Thousand Oaks builds a coordinated plan to restore how your teeth look, feel, and work together.
Full mouth reconstruction is a comprehensive treatment plan that rebuilds or replaces most or all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. It is not one procedure. It is a carefully sequenced combination of treatments chosen for your specific needs. Depending on what we find, a plan might include crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, root canal therapy, gum disease treatment, extractions, bone grafting, or tooth replacement with dental implants, implant-supported bridges, or dentures.
This approach helps a wide range of people. Some patients have teeth worn down by years of grinding. Others have several old restorations that are breaking down at once, or teeth damaged by decay or injury. Some have lost teeth and want a stable replacement, which might mean full arch options such as All-on-4, All-on-6, or All-on-X implants. Because we also have a strong focus on TMJ treatment, we pay close attention to how your bite and jaw function. A reconstruction should feel comfortable, not just look good.
Your first visit starts with listening. We want to know what bothers you most, whether that is chewing difficulty, sensitivity, jaw discomfort, or how your smile looks in photos. From there, we carry out a thorough exam and oral cancer screening and review your gum health, existing dental work, and bite.
Imaging plays a major role in planning. Our office provides 2D and 3D imaging, including CBCT imaging, which shows bone, roots, and the jaw joint in detail. This helps us judge whether implants are an option, whether bone grafting or a sinus lift might be needed, and how your bite should be rebuilt. We can also use digital smile design to help you picture the result before treatment begins.
Who will be involved in my care?
Most of your care can happen right here under one roof. Our office includes general dentistry alongside a board-certified periodontist, a board-certified endodontist, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial radiologist, and a board-certified dental anesthesiologist.
That matters for a reconstruction. Gum grafting, crown lengthening, implant placement, and root canal retreatment can all be coordinated within one plan instead of spread across several offices. Our on-site dental lab also supports the restorations that make up your new smile.
Will treatment be uncomfortable?
We work hard to keep you comfortable, and sedation options are available if you feel anxious. Our dental anesthesiologist offers nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation, and general anesthesia, so we can match the level of support to the procedure and to how you feel.
Reconstruction usually happens in phases. We typically address infection, decay, and gum health first. Rebuilding and replacing teeth comes after that. Phasing treatment lets your mouth heal properly between steps. It can also spread the work over a schedule that fits your life.
How do I care for my reconstructed smile?
Daily brushing, flossing, and regular professional visits are the foundation of protecting your investment. Your restorations still depend on healthy gums and bone underneath them. Some patients will benefit from periodontal maintenance or implant maintenance visits, which we provide in our office.
If you grind or clench, we may recommend a night guard to protect your new teeth. Patients who play sports can ask about sports mouth guards. We will also show you how to clean around bridges, implants, or dentures. Paying attention to small changes, like a sore spot or a bite that feels off, lets us make adjustments early.
How can I pay for full mouth reconstruction?
We accept all major PPO insurance plans, welcome self-pay patients, and offer financing. Because every reconstruction is different, we review the costs of your plan with you before treatment begins.
Some of our specialty services are filed with insurance as specialist care, and our team can help explain how this affects your benefits. Here are a few points worth knowing:
- Phased treatment can make costs easier to manage over time.
- Financing is available to help fit care into your budget.
- We review your plan and costs with you up front so there are no surprises.
