Restorative Dentistry in Oak Park

Restorative Dentistry in Oak Park

A chipped molar that catches your tongue, a filling that has started to wear down, or a gap where a tooth used to be can quietly change how you eat, speak, and smile. Over time, small problems like these can also affect the teeth around them. At 805 Dentistry, our Thousand Oaks office helps Oak Park families repair damaged teeth and replace missing ones so everyday life feels normal again. Our team is led by Dr. Dar Radfar, DDS.

Restorative dentistry is the part of dental care focused on rebuilding teeth that have been weakened, damaged, or lost. It covers a wide range of needs. At the simpler end are dental fillings for cavities and composite bonding for small chips. Larger repairs include inlays, onlays, and crowns, which strengthen teeth that have lost more structure. When a tooth is missing, we can replace it with bridges, partial or complete dentures, dental implants, or implant-supported bridges and dentures.

Some patients need a single restoration. Others need a broader plan, such as full mouth rehabilitation or full mouth reconstruction, which brings many treatments together. For patients missing most or all of their teeth, we also offer All-on-4, All-on-6, and All-on-X dental implants. Because we are a general, family, and cosmetic practice, Oak Park patients can often have their restorative care planned and completed in one place rather than being sent to several different offices.

Restoring a damaged tooth is about more than appearance. A cracked or decayed tooth can keep breaking down. A missing tooth can make chewing harder and put extra strain on the teeth next to it. Repairing these problems helps protect the rest of your smile.

Common reasons our Oak Park patients choose restorative treatment include:

  • Chewing comfortably on both sides of the mouth again
  • Protecting weakened teeth from further damage
  • Filling gaps left by missing teeth
  • Making speech feel clearer and more natural
  • Smiling without feeling self-conscious

Because we also offer cosmetic services, we keep appearance in mind throughout the planning process. Your restorations should look natural alongside your other teeth.

Am I a good candidate for restorative dentistry?

If you have a tooth that is decayed, cracked, worn, broken, or missing, you are likely a candidate for some form of restorative care. We see children and adults of all ages, so the right approach depends on your age, oral health, and goals. A child with a cavity has very different needs than an adult considering implant-supported dentures.

Healthy gums and bone are an important foundation for many restorations. If an exam shows gum disease, we may recommend scaling and root planing or other gum treatment first. For implants, some patients need bone grafting or a sinus lift to prepare the area. We have a board-certified periodontist and a board-certified endodontist on staff, so steps like these can often be handled within our practice. This applies to root canal therapy for infected teeth as well.

What happens during restorative treatment, and how do I care for my teeth afterward?

Treatment begins with a dental exam and imaging, which can include 2D and 3D imaging and CBCT scans when we need a detailed view. We then explain what we found, walk through your options, and build a plan that fits your needs. Simple fillings may take a single visit. Crowns, bridges, implants, and full mouth reconstruction usually involve several appointments over time. Our on-site dental lab supports the restorations we create for our patients.

If dental visits make you anxious, we offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation, and general anesthesia, with a board-certified dental anesthesiologist on staff. Afterward, caring for restored teeth looks a lot like caring for natural ones: brush, floss, and keep up with regular dental cleanings and exams. Implant patients benefit from ongoing implant maintenance. If you grind your teeth, we may suggest a night guard to help protect your restorations.

How can I pay for restorative dental care?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans, and we also welcome self-pay patients. Before treatment begins, we review your plan with you so you understand your options. Because restorative care can range from a single filling to a full arch of implants, costs vary from patient to patient.

For larger treatment plans, financing is available to help spread out the cost. Our goal is to make it easier for Oak Park families to get the care they need without delay. If a tooth is causing pain or has suddenly broken, we also offer emergency dental appointments. When you are ready, reach out to our team, and we will help you take the first step toward a healthier, more comfortable smile.
