Implant-Supported Bridges in Simi Valley

Implant-Supported Bridges in Simi Valley

Maybe you lost two or three teeth in a row years ago and have been getting by with a removable partial that shifts when you eat. Or maybe a dentist recently told you that several neighboring teeth can't be saved, and you're wondering what comes next. For many of our patients who make the drive from Simi Valley to our Thousand Oaks office, an implant-supported bridge is the answer. It replaces a span of missing teeth with a fixed restoration anchored by dental implants rather than by your natural teeth.

An implant-supported bridge is a row of connected replacement teeth held in place by dental implants placed in the jawbone. A traditional bridge relies on reshaping the healthy teeth on either side of a gap so they can hold crowns. An implant bridge uses the implants themselves as the anchors. That means we can often replace several missing teeth with fewer implants than teeth, without involving the neighboring teeth at all.

Because the bridge is fixed in place, you don't take it out at night or worry about adhesives. We see it work well for a range of situations: a few missing back teeth that make chewing difficult, a gap in the front that affects your smile, or a stretch of teeth lost to decay, injury, or gum disease. Patients who are tired of a loose partial denture often find it a practical step up.

Your first visit is about understanding your mouth, not committing to a plan. We start with a dental exam and talk with you about which teeth are missing, how long they've been gone, and what's bothering you most. We then take detailed images. Our office provides CBCT imaging and both 2D and 3D dental imaging, so we can evaluate your bone and plan implant positions without sending you to another facility.

Good candidates generally have healthy gums and enough jawbone to support implants. If you don't meet those conditions yet, that doesn't automatically rule you out. Our board-certified periodontist treats gum disease and performs bone grafting and sinus lift surgery, which can help prepare the area when bone has thinned after tooth loss. We'll explain what your images show and walk you through the options in plain terms.

What happens during treatment?

Treatment happens in stages, starting with implant placement and ending with your custom bridge. Our board-certified periodontist places the implants. If any remaining teeth in the area need to come out first, we handle extractions here as well. Once the implants are in, the bone needs time to bond with them before they can support a bridge. We'll keep you informed about what to expect at each step.

After healing, we take impressions and design your bridge. Having an on-site dental lab means we can coordinate closely on fit, shape, and shade so the new teeth blend with your smile. Along the way, you can expect:

  • A clear treatment plan before any work begins
  • Imaging and planning done in our own office
  • Implant placement by a board-certified periodontist
  • A bridge crafted with input from our on-site lab
  • Follow-up visits to check fit and comfort

Will I be comfortable during the procedure?

Yes. Your comfort is part of our planning from the start. We use local anesthesia for implant procedures, and for patients who feel anxious about dental work, we offer sedation options including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation, and general anesthesia.

Our team includes a board-certified dental anesthesiologist, so sedation is provided by someone with specialized training. If nerves have kept you from replacing missing teeth, tell us at your first visit. We'll talk through which level of sedation fits the procedure and your health history.

How do I care for my implant bridge, and how can I pay for it?

You care for an implant bridge much like natural teeth: daily brushing, cleaning underneath and around the bridge, and regular checkups. We'll show you how to clean the areas where the bridge meets your gums, since keeping that tissue healthy protects the implants. Our periodontist also provides implant maintenance, so your follow-up care stays with the team that placed them.

On the financial side, we accept all major PPO insurance plans and welcome self-pay patients. Financing is available to help spread out the cost of treatment. We'll review your estimate with you before treatment begins so there are no surprises. If you're in Simi Valley and ready to talk about replacing missing teeth, we'd be glad to see you and answer your questions in person.
