Maybe your teenager's front teeth are starting to crowd as their adult teeth come in. Or maybe you're an adult who has quietly hidden a crooked smile in photos for years and wonders if it's too late to do something about it. These are the everyday situations that bring families from Ventura to our office, and they're exactly what our general orthodontic care is designed to address. At 805 Dentistry, we straighten teeth for both children and adults, and we do it within the same practice that handles your cleanings, exams, and other dental needs.

Orthodontics is the part of dentistry that moves teeth into better positions using steady, controlled pressure over time. Our office provides general orthodontics, which means your treatment is planned and managed by our general dental team, led by Dr. Dar Radfar, DDS, rather than through a separate specialty office. For many Ventura families, that means one less office to keep track of and one team that already knows your dental history.

We offer two main approaches. Traditional metal braces use brackets and wires to guide teeth into place and work well for a wide range of alignment needs. Clear aligners, including Invisalign, use a series of removable, nearly invisible trays that you switch out as your teeth gradually shift. During your visit, we'll talk through which option fits your teeth, your routine, and your preferences.

Straighter teeth are about more than appearance, though feeling confident in your smile matters too. When teeth are crowded or overlapping, it can be harder to brush and floss thoroughly, and well-aligned teeth are generally easier to keep clean day to day. Here's what our orthodontic care can offer Ventura patients:

  • A choice between traditional metal braces and clear aligners
  • Treatment for both children and adults
  • Care coordinated with your regular cleanings and exams in one practice
  • Support for patients who started treatment at another office
  • Retainers, including for patients whose orthodontic treatment was done elsewhere

That last point comes up often. If you moved to Ventura in the middle of treatment, we accept orthodontic transfer patients and can pick up where your previous provider left off. And if you finished braces years ago but lost or broke your retainer, we can make you a new one even if we didn't handle your original treatment.

Am I a good candidate for braces or aligners?

Most people with crowded, gapped, or misaligned teeth can be candidates for some form of orthodontic treatment, whether they're children or adults. The best way to know for sure is an in-person evaluation at our office.

Age isn't the deciding factor it once was. We see younger patients whose bite is still developing, as well as adults who simply never had the chance to straighten their teeth growing up. Clear aligners appeal to many adults who'd rather not have visible brackets at work, while braces can be a practical fit for patients who prefer not to keep track of removable trays.

Your overall oral health matters too. Teeth and gums should be in good shape before orthodontic treatment begins, so we'll check for cavities or gum concerns first. Because we also provide general, restorative, and periodontal care, we can address those issues in the same practice before your orthodontic work starts.

What happens during orthodontic treatment?

Treatment starts with an exam and imaging so we can see how your teeth and jaws fit together. Our practice offers 2D and 3D dental imaging, which helps us plan your tooth movement carefully.

From there, we'll map out your treatment. If you choose braces, we place the brackets and wires and then see you for periodic adjustments. If you choose clear aligners, you'll receive your trays and wear them as directed, moving to each new set on schedule. The length of treatment varies from person to person depending on how much movement is needed, and we'll give you a realistic picture once we've evaluated your case.

If you notice jaw clicking, locking, or discomfort along the way, let us know. Our team also treats TMJ disorders and jaw-related pain, so those concerns can be evaluated here too.

How do I keep my results after treatment?

Wearing a retainer as directed is the most important step in keeping your teeth from drifting back. Once braces come off or you finish your last aligner, teeth need time to settle into their new positions.

We'll fit you with a retainer and explain exactly how and when to wear it. Keep it clean, store it in its case when it's not in your mouth, and keep up with regular cleanings and exams so we can check that everything is holding steady.

How can I pay for orthodontics?

We accept all major PPO insurance plans, and our office files orthodontic claims as a general practitioner. We also welcome self-pay patients and offer financing to help spread out the cost of treatment.

Our team can review your coverage with you before you commit to anything, so you know what to expect. If you're in Ventura and ready to talk about straightening your smile, or your child's, reach out to 805 Dentistry to schedule an orthodontic evaluation.
